In 2004, Jenny studied voice under the direction of St. Francis Xavier University's vocal jazz instructor, Ryan Billington, and has since studied with jazz/classical vocalist Carol Godsman, and Halifax-based composer, vocalist, and pianist Erin Costello.
In 2008, Jenny made her songwriting debut and released her first full-length album, "Jenny Kissed Me" which plays regularly on many radio stations including CBC Radio One, and has been active as a songwriter and performer since.
In June, 2010, MacDonald graduated from the Nova Scotia Community College's Music Arts and Business program, receiving the "Highest Achievement" award for her program.
Jenny has held a position at the Ivy School of Music in Bedford, Nova Scotia as a voice and guitar instructor since March 2009. We are privledged to have such talent here at the school.
"The best way to engage students is to teach them things that they enjoy. They quickly realize that the technical skills and theory that music education offers will help them to achieve their own personal goals with their instrument. You have to feed the fire of passion in order to inspire the desire to learn."
-Jenny MacDonald

Music has been a big part of Jennifer’'s life ever since she can remember. Jen started playing the piano at
the age of 6, under the direction of Beverley Jealouse. She obtained her Grade 8 piano Royal Conservatory of Music certificate (First Class Honours with Distinction ) furthering her studies to the Grade 10/ARCT level. Annual Kiwanis Festival competitions gave her a focus and motivation to develop her skills, through which she acquired a love of performing. At 13 years of age, she won the Chairman Award for Intermediate Piano trophy and scholarship at the Oshawa/Whitby Kiwanis Festival. At age 16, her musical highlight came when she auditioned and was chosen to perform Chopin’'s Fantasie Impromptu at the ORMTA’s* Young Artists Recital.
Having developed a lifelong love and commitment to music, she remains musically active as a vocalist and pianist at weddings and churches and has been teaching students privately since 1999. She was a music educator at the Merriam School of Music in Oakville, ON and currently is the owner of and a music teacher at the Ivy School of Music in Bedford, NS. Although her area of expertise is in the classical domain, she also enjoys playing jazz piano and popular genres.
Her wish is to instill a love and appreciation of music and the arts in all of her students.

Bio coming soon!
Ksenija Spasic-Cvijan has been playing the piano since the age of 8. After completing primary and secondary school music, she studied under the direction of the eminent professor, Mirjana Suica-Babic, at the University of Music Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, obtaining a MMus degree in Piano Performance. During that period, she performed at various festivals, competitions and concerts, and held numerous recitals in her former country. After graduating, she worked at several music schools in Serbia as a piano teacher to students ranging from grades 1 to 6. At the same music schools, Ksenija served as a piano adjudicator, lending her expertise on final exams, and even up to now, continues to be a piano accompanist for various performers at several events, concerts and festivals.
Ksenija moved to Canada with her family in 2010 and since then she has been a piano teacher at the Ivy School of Music. We are privileged to have Ksenija at our school - her kind spirit and extraordinary talent is such an asset to the school and we are thrilled to have her lead students to a lifelong love of music.
